Guide Slot: The guide slot provides the guiding surface for the slide movement. This straight slot is the simplest and most common type of guide. It is a linear track machined into a fixed component of the mechanism. In this case this is the panel.
The slider block slides up and down along the slot, ensuring it moves in a straight line. The guide is attached to the panel wall facing Bay 2. It could be made of aluminum to keep its weight low. It is a rectangular or square block.
