lift

umschalten

Umschalten (z. B. von Lift-Arc-Zündung bei WIG-Schweißen: Elektrode berührt kurz das Werkstück und wird dann angehoben).

Switching / lift (e.g., lift-arc ignition in TIG welding: electrode touches workpiece briefly then is lifted).

MAG welding (MAG)

MAG-Schweißen

Metall-Aktivgas-Schweißen; Variante des Schutzgasschweißens mit aktivem Gas (meist CO₂ oder Mischgas) – gut für un- und niedriglegierte Stähle.

Metal Active Gas welding; GMAW variant using active gas (mostly CO₂ or mixed) – suitable for carbon and low-alloy steels.

Schweißen, das komplett von Hand ausgeführt wird (z. B. E-Hand, WIG).

Welding performed entirely by hand (e.g., stick, TIG).

MIG welding (MIG)

MIG-Schweißen

Metall-Inertgas-Schweißen; Schutzgasschweißen mit inertem Gas (meist Argon) – ideal für Aluminium und Edelstahl.

Metal Inert Gas welding; GMAW with inert gas (mostly argon) – ideal for aluminum and stainless steel.

Düse am Brenner, die den Schutzgasstrom lenkt und den Lichtbogen schützt.

open-circuit voltage (O.C.V.)

Leerlaufspannung, Leerspannung, Ruhespannung

Spannung an den Klemmen ohne Lichtbogen (Leerlauf); wichtig für Zündfähigkeit.

Voltage at terminals without arc (open circuit); important for arc ignition capability.

orbital welding

Orbitalschweißen

Automatisiertes Rundnahtschweißen um Rohre oder Rohrleitungen (meist WIG mit rotierendem Brenner).

Automated circumferential welding around pipes or tubes (usually TIG with rotating torch).

output driver

Ausgangstreiber

Leistungsstufe / Treiberstufe am Ausgang des Schweißgeräts (steuert Strom/Spannung).

Power stage / output driver in the welding power source (controls current/voltage).

overlay

Auftragschicht, Auftragsschweißung

Aufschweißen einer Verschleiß- oder Korrosionsschutzschicht auf ein Bauteil.

Applying a wear-resistant or corrosion-resistant weld layer onto a component.

oxidation

Oxidation

Chemische Reaktion mit Sauerstoff; führt zu Zunderbildung oder Poren bei unzureichendem Schutzgas.

Chemical reaction with oxygen; causes scale formation or porosity with insufficient shielding gas.

peak (welding) current

maximaler Schweißstrom, Höchstschweißstrom

Höchstwert des Stroms in gepulsten Verfahren (z. B. Puls-MIG); bestimmt Einbrand und Tropfengröße.

Maximum current value in pulsed processes (e.g., pulsed MIG); determines penetration and droplet size.

peak current

Höchststromstärke, Spitzenstrom

Spitzenwert des Stroms beim Impulsschweißen; beeinflusst Spritzerverhalten und Nahtgeometrie.

Peak value of current in pulsed welding; influences spatter behavior and weld geometry.
