Working on the design of a machine to measure and check the contours of printed circuit boards, i.e. board length, width, position and size of drill holes, contact pins, curvature of cuts in the board, etc. The system comprised a fully-computerized X-Y table, intelligent camera, host computer with capacity for 1,000 PCB programs.
I was involved in the selection of the computer hardware, and image analysis system for the machine. Working with another engineer on the development of the programming language (and its editor) to describe and measure the board features. We developed the handling software for the machine operators and the database for the 1,000 PCB programs.
I was involved for 18 months on this project and brought it to its successful completion.
All engineering and project work was done in the German language.
