TS System - Spring Operation
The transportation process covers the transportation of a load from Bay 1 to Bay 2 by the trolley and the returning of the trolley to Bay 1 from Bay 2.
Included are the system states involved in this process and the actions required to move the system from one state to the next.
The critical activities occurring in the trolley during the transportation process are described. The operation of the springs is described
with illustrations. How the buffer springs are energized and de-energized is also described. And the way in which an operator interacts with the system is also described.
The spring operations are broken down into seven states.
- State 1: The trolley is at rest at Bay 1; there is no load on the trolley. The four springs are at rest.
The dish pins are disengaged; and the compression plate pins are engaged.
- State 2: A load has been placed on the dish in the trolley. The plate springs and buffer springs are compressed under the load.
- State 3: The trolley is in transit between Bay 1 and Bay 2; the compression plate pins are disengaged.
- State 4: The trolley is at rest at Bay 2; the load is on the trolley. The dish and plate pins are engaged.
- State 5: The load is removed from the dish. The trolley remains at rest at Bay 2.
- State 6: The dish and plate pins have been disengaged and the unloaded trolley is in transit between Bay 2 and Bay 1.
- State 7: The trolley is at rest at Bay 1; there is no load on the trolley. The compression plate pins are engaged.

The different states are shown; the actions taken at each state are listed; and the transitions between the states as a result of
these actions are shown. The process is shown in graphical format.
