fault-tolerant: Computer systems especially large ones are often critical pieces of equipment and are therefore fault-tolerant. This means they have redundancy built in so that if faults occur in them they can still continue to function. Modules may be duplicated so that if a fault occurs in a module the reserve module takes over automatically.
